I don't travel on public transport at night very often. However, there is a eery sense of loneliness standing on platforms alone waiting for trains. I normally travel during the day and I'm normally stood with thousands of people cluttering my view of the world. Shooting at night brings an element of calm, method approach to photography. Simple lines go on forever in the harsh light. Actually, I find it easier to spot patterns and shapes when I'm not busying myself with daily punctuality.
A day trip out with my son. He loves trains and transport, so we spent the day riding the London underground. I only took my iPhone and Hipstamatic. It's great for capturing moments, abstracts, architecture and people. The iPhone is extremely discreet and I love the 'old film' analog look that Hipstamatic offers.
An evening walk to Farringdon station allowed me to start my street photography project. I want to understand the complexities of trying to document people on the streets of London.
